Personally: It what sets a place from all the others. Maybe it's the shabby chic furniture, the indy music playing in the background, or the walls lined with interesting local artwork. In any case, you can find a distinctive atmosphere in suburbia. Here's a look at some of the coffee houses, cafes and gathering spots that move to a beat of a different drummer.
Tiger Lily Café brings a playful, "alternative" style to Port Jeff. It's a beacon for vegetarian sandwiches and wraps, vegetable burgers, soups, juices, smoothies and coffee. The Roma Wrap: fresh mozzarella, tomato, mesclun, basil-pesto mayo; the Provencal: sliced Brie, pear, walnuts, mesclun, white wine-honey mustard. There are non-vegetarian choices too. And one wrap that must be a healthful Elvis tribute: Peanut butter and fresh banana.
